She built her own design business from her kitchen table to seven figures, working with the Royal Family, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior and Vogue. She now runs The Bright Line, a six month programme that helps creative founders attract the right clients and build a reliably profitable business, built around what each one does best.

Updated October 2026

I started my first business at my kitchen table, on maternity leave from my corporate role, with the first of our three children, delivering bud vases to the bars and restaurants near us and working out the rest by trial and error. It grew from there into a creative business I'd never have dared imagine at the start, working with the clients most people never do: the Royal Family, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Vogue. Not by working harder, or by being more creatively talented than others... by becoming utterly clear about who I was and the work only I could do.

My flower design business grew to seven figures, a concession in Selfridges and many years at the very top of the market.

In 2018, that included designing the flowers for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

And I didn't set out as a mentor at all. The florists who came to learn installation work at our school started asking me about their businesses instead, and I found that a few clear pointers changed a great deal. Then an interior designer asked, then a ceramicist, then a jeweller, and it turned out to be the work I'm most naturally good at. I've supported hundreds of creative founders since.

What does a business mentor for creative business owners actually do?

Most business advice begins by adding something. A new form of marketing, more content, a funnel, another revenue stream, a rebrand, a bigger team. The quiet assumption underneath is that you're missing something, and somebody else has it.

I start in a completely different place: with you. What comes so naturally to you that you've long stopped noticing it, and what the right people who love your work keep coming back for. Those two things are the evidence, in your own history and in your clients' own words. You can't see them from the inside, nobody can, it's simply where you're standing. Seeing them is the part I do with you.

So the mentoring is mostly that, done properly and with evidence, and then building the whole business around what's there: what you offer, who it's for, what you charge and how the right clients or customers find you.

I've worked closely with creatives across interior design, photography, floristry and jewellery... to textiles, ceramics, fine art, styling, nutrition, wellness, coaching, garden design, event design, homeware... and many more.

It's for you if you're already running your creative business, with paying clients or customers and a body of work behind you, and you're willing to look closely at what's working, what isn't, and what needs to change. You might be a few years in, twenty years or more, or turning towards a different kind of work with everything you've learnt.

It isn't for you if you're still at the idea stage, if what you want is one more marketing technique or a formula to follow, if you'd like somebody to tell you what to sell, or if your aim is a big team and a business that needs you everywhere at once.

Who is it for?

The Bright Line is six months of teaching, in audio and in writing, that you take at your own pace, with me alongside you while you apply it to your business. The Hub is where the work happens day to day: you post your answers and your questions, and you get my reply and other members'. There's a live session on Zoom on the first Tuesday of the month at 4pm UK, recorded, and a twenty-minute one-to-one with a member of my team every month. All of it is online.

You'll notice I don't sell hours of one to one time, and that's deliberate: you get my eyes on your business, closely, in the Hub every day, and a room of creative founders working through the same month who can see your business from the outside in a way you can't.

How does the mentoring work?

Not at all. Members join from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Washington state, Uruguay, throughout Europe and across the UK, and all of it happens online. The live session is recorded and shared the same day. I'm based in Dorset, in the UK.

Does it matter where in the world I am?

The Bright Line is £2,970 for the full six months, or six monthly payments of £495. That covers the six pillars and every tool inside them, the Hub and my replies in it, the live session each month, your monthly one-to-one, and the room.

The Missing Piece, which is where I'd always suggest starting, is free.

How much does it cost?

If you'd like to see what's already there in your own business, The Missing Piece is a free series of short audios and PDFs I made for established creative founders, with a tool that shows you the one thing people already value most in your work. You'd be welcome.

And if you already know The Bright Line is for you, you can read more and apply on the overview page.

Where do I start?

THE MISSING PIECE

"It looks easy, why do you need a business mentor? Quite simply because it is so much harder than it looks and I wouldn't be where I am now without Philippa."

"I've put my prices up by 30% and this hasn't put people off booking, and I've managed to pay myself in six months more than I did the whole of last year."
