THAT FEEL
RIGHT

The right price isn't just about the numbers - it's about creating space to do your best work for clients who value what you do.

Moving Beyond The "What Should I Charge?" Question

You know that slight hesitation you feel before sending a quote? That moment when you wonder if your prices are too high, too low, or just... wrong? I've been thinking about this lately because it's something that comes up in almost every conversation I have with creative business owners.

I remember those early days in my own business, typing out quotes with slightly shaky hands, often second-guessing my prices right up until I hit send. Even after securing contracts with prestigious brands, I still sometimes questioned whether I was pricing correctly. Looking back, I can see that the journey to confident pricing isn't just about finding the right numbers - it's about understanding your true value.

Let me share something that completely changed my approach to pricing. Early in my flower business, I was charging based on what I thought was "standard" in the industry. But then I noticed something interesting - the aspects of our service that clients valued most weren't the things I was actually charging for. While I was calculating costs based on stem counts and arrangement sizes, clients were raving about how well we understood their vision, how we solved complex logistics challenges, and how calm we kept everything on the day.

This realisation led to a complete shift in how I thought about pricing. Instead of focusing solely on the tangible elements, I started considering the full value we were providing - the expertise, the peace of mind, the unique solutions we brought to each project.

  • Your natural abilities often create the most value (even if they feel "too easy" to charge for)

  • Industry standards are guidelines, not rules - your unique approach might warrant different pricing

  • The confidence to charge appropriately often comes from truly understanding what your clients value

  • Sometimes what feels like a high price to you feels completely reasonable to your ideal clients

  • It's okay to grow into your pricing - small increases as your confidence grows can feel more manageable

Here's what I've learned about setting prices that feel right:

One of the biggest myths about pricing is that there's a "perfect" price point out there. The truth is, right pricing is more about alignment - with your expertise, with your ideal clients, and with the value you're providing. When these elements align, the price feels right for both you and your clients.

I notice this with my students too. Often, they come worried about charging too much, only to discover they've been significantly undercharging for their expertise. The transformation happens when they start recognising the true value of their natural abilities - those things that feel easy to them but are incredibly valuable to their clients.
